If anyone's thinking of researching the Kodály methodology, here are some links for on-line resources. However, you should really try to attend a workshop or observe a Kodály-trained teacher to get a sense of how it works "on the ground."

I just sent out a question to members on curriculum myself before seeing your discussion topic. There are many methods and 'curriculms' out there for instrumentalists. But classroom/general music ed.(particularly elementary) does not fare as well on complete programs. Kodaly(from Hungary) is a wonderfully sequential curriculum and is grade level specific which involves singing as the main performance instrument/component. I love the ear training and internalization of beat, rhythm and pitch that it develops. I heighly recomment classroom teachers getthis training. I've also been trained in the Yamaha Music School method years ago. It is also one of the only 'curriculums' I have seen that builds independent, confident and complete musicians of the kids in a sequential, fool-proof manner --laying out the lessons for the teacher. Of course, with any curriculum, perhaps the most important word is always- review-review-review-(practice). :) Happy teaching!!
