Music IS my life.
Are you teacher?
A teacher, a teacher trainer, a teacher trainer trainer, and founder of a npo that trains teachers :-)
IMy organization trains classroom teachers to integrate music daily. We have active programs in over 20 states and are reaching more than half a million student per year with integrated music. There are 56 trainers on faculty and we work with about 3,000 classroom teachers each year providing free teacher training throughout the school year. Teachers may borrow a guitar if they need one, and they receive all their musical supplies gratis courtesy of our generous sponsors who want very much to help them learn.

Guitars in the Classroom receives grants from The NAMM Foundation, The D'Addario Music Foundation, GAMA (Guitars and Accessories Marketing Association), The Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation, The Wishlist Foundation, The Music for Life Alliance, and others! I have been thinking lately about how hard many of us having been working to make a case

for music education in our hyper competitive, commodity driven culture. We are Americans

(mostly) and we live in a culture that commodifies everything- even art... and human beings.

We even commodify ourselves for Pete's sake. We are constantly asking ourselves if

we "measure up."



TO WHAT?



And why on earth do we do this where music is concerned?
